Wendell Rector

A native of Ohio, the late Wendell Rector grew up in the 1950s and began his large personal classical collection at an early age. After college graduation he taught Social Studies, using music to illustrate historical periods. Three years later he answered an ad for teachers to work overseas for the military. Within weeks he found himself in the Philippines. Fifteen years later, after stints in Germany and Iceland, Wendell came to Connecticut.

When he retired as Director of Learning Resources & Technology at the John Read Middle School in Redding, Connecticut he and his wife Carol moved to South Carolina. Wendell has been on air at WMNR since 1982. He passed away in August of 2018 but given the warmth and quality of his recorded work, we're pleased to continue to air Wendell's fine programs Monday and Tuesday afternoons from 3:00 to 5:00 pm.
