John Carle

John Carle created The World of Gilbert & Sullivan for WMNR in 1984.   He started his performing career in New York City doing commercials and performing with the Group of Ancient Greek Drama. He was then cast by Dorothy Raedler in her Gilbert and Sullivan repertory company, The American Savoyards, as understudy to the “patter” man. The following season when he moved from understudy to leads in these famous roles the New York Times cited him as being “a master of the Gilbert and Sullivan patter roles.” After touring nationally with Gloriana Productions, Gilbert and Sullivan à la Carte and others, he was invited to perform and direct for the Madison (Wisconsin) Savoyards for a number of seasons.
