Broadcaster Dominique Johnson's love of classical music and
radio began early. Growing up in the Midwest, she started out as a young
announcer, writing, producing and hosting classical music and fine arts
programs. She also worked in various capacities for public radio stations in
the Chicagoland area and at the Interlochen Center for the Arts where she
studied radio production. A violinist for nearly her entire life, she also performed
with chamber ensembles as a violist at Bryn Mawr College while a student there.
She was supported by an ACMP/The Chamber Music Network grant at the Apple Hill
Center for Chamber Music and was a visiting music student at Goldsmiths,
University of London. She is a proud Norwalk resident.
Dominique is thrilled
to join the great WMNR family. She enjoys discovering new recordings and works,
especially by emerging performers and contemporary composers, and loves sharing
them with WMNR listeners. Always excited about new musical adventures, she
enjoys playing bluegrass fiddle and recently began to learn to play the
mandolin. She is passionate about igniting interest in classical music among
younger listeners and exploring its intersections with other genres.
Join Dominique on air Fridays from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and follow her on Twitter @GenXClassical.
