Control Board Operator


POSITION TITLE: Control Board Operator

REPORTS TO:  WMNR Operations Director
CLASSIFICATION: Hourly, $12; Non-Union; 5-15 hours a week

Job Summary: 

Responsible for the broadcast operations of WMNR during their shift, including the audio that is broadcast and the correct operations of the FCC licensed transmitters, insuring a quality broadcast service.  Availability to work during our local broadcast day which runs from 6:00 am till midnight, 7 days a week. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Broadcast live programs, recorded programs or satellite feeds, operate our transmitters, master control board, CD players, carts, MD machines and EAS tests
• Follow daily log which lists programs, donor announcement, promos and PSA’s, also take and record transmitter readings
• Record interviews, live programs and edit recordings
• Communicate and assist listeners and volunteer staff.  Be a team player and perform necessary assignments to ensure a smoothly run station
• Serve as fill-in board operator when our volunteer staff is unavailable to ensure uninterrupted high standard of listener service 
• Control board operators must be technically oriented and willing to learn all necessary aspects of operation and controlling our public, non-profit radio station
• Troubleshoot general problems with the broadcast equipment issues 
• Take part in fundraising throughout the year including taking pledges and filling out the Tally Sheet 
• Must be able to work irregular hours including weekends, holidays and inclement weather ?

Education/Training/Skills and Experience: 
• Technologically oriented 
• Computer Skills including Google Suite and willingness to be trained on Spinitron to ensure correct online music listings
• Willing to learn all aspects of operating and controlling for our radio station
• Excellent punctuality and attendance 
• Highly self-motivated 
• Reliable transportation

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee regularly is required to stand, walk, sit, bend, use hand to finger coordination, handle or feel objects, and reach with hands and arms. Ability to work under stress from demanding deadlines and changing priorities and conditions. The employee may need to lift and/or moves up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus, and documents.
